Looking back

Here I am having looked over some of my old blogs I feel and can see how far I've come in this journey called life. I wished I had kept some of my postings from the past when I was thinking I had reached spiritual enlightenment. Ah the decisions that we make that leaves a bitter sweet memory.

I've been a Christian for about 4.5 years now, I still feel there is still so much for me to learn about God. My journey as a Christian hasn't been rosy all the way. I do face temptations that lure me away from God but I persevere through to fight the temptation and focus on Jesus. In the Bible we can see trials and tribulations in life that we will face no matter what are inevitable. What do I do? I focus as best as I can on Jesus who knows my every struggle in life who can give me the peace and rest I need albeit the circumstances may be challenging.

As I look back into my life, I had lived a pretty sorrowful life in spite of me being a positive person. There was a time in my life in my late twenties to early thirties that I had cried a lot due to the heartaches I faced from failures. It was not until I found Jesus that my life changed for the better where joy was more prominent in my life. There is hope in Jesus is all I can say.

There are still many things in my life that I need to die to so I can be purer for Christ. It's not going to be easy but I am determined to run the race with patience and hope.

Christ Jesus: Walking with Christ

In my recent journaling, God has been telling me about what walking with Christ is. Through the verses in Luke 14:25-33 and 2 Timothy; God shared with me some key elements to walking with Christ.

- Walking with Christ requires full commitment (commitment that comes from the heart)
- Walking with Christ means I have one enemy to battle with - the Father of Lies (Satan)
- Walking with Christ requires that I be rooted in Him through the Word (Bible)
- Walking with Christ requires me to renounce all past beliefs
- Walking with Christ requires me to clean my body temple of any spiritual bondages (In the bible, our body is regarded as God's temple)
- Walking with Christ means I have to walk righteously with a renewed mind and heart
- Walking with Christ means walking in the light of TRUTH - God's truth
- Walking with Christ requires me to put on the armor of God everyday - resisting the devil
- Walking with Christ means to carry my cross everyday
- Walking with Christ requires me to depend on God's understanding and the guidance of His Holy Spirit not my mind in the flesh

How is your relationship with Jesus and our Heavenly Father? Is there something you need to confess to God? Ask and you shall receive. When we ask our heavenly Father to reveal to us the very things we need to make it right, he is faithful to grant us that wisdom. Sometimes it may not be the very things we want to hear/see but being an obedient servant to God; we must face those demons of our life so we can be set free in Christ.

God is not out there to harm us but prune us into the fruitful being he designed us to be. Whatever that may be holding you back from having a closer relationship with our Heavenly Father - CONFESS (1 John 1:9/Psalm 38:18) then COMMIT (Psalm 37:5) to walk in the TRUTH. By God's grace and our will power in the flesh, the roaring lion can be tamed - by this I mean you are more capable to fight the battle of the mind with the evil one that is out to devour us at every opportunity it gets. God's Word is the sword of truth. Use the sword of truth to cut off the lies and deceptions that the evil one has planted in our minds.

We are God's child - holy and acceptable. (John 1:12/Romans 5:1)

We have been bought with a price. I belong to God. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

We are born of God and the evil one cannot touch us (1 John 5:18)

We are able to do all things through Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13)

The Devil and Angel of Perfectionism

"PEOPLE ARE PERFECT IN THEIR OWN WAYS PER ASPECT OF THEIR LIVES AT THEIR OWN PACE OF PERFECTION."

We are constantly overwhelmed with messages of being "perfect". The level of perfectionism for each individual or society vary in small and big ways. Many of us are held prisoners in this 'perfect mindset' that discourages creativity and encourages disempowerment and paralysis of progress when we are overwhelmed by that demand of ourselves and other people to perform to 'perfection'.

Why do we do that?

What do we fear when we are 'imperfect' - a view/standard we impose on ourselves and others?

Why do we give our power away to conform to other people's standards of perfectionism but our own?

Note: Do I mean that we shouldn't be the best we can be and try to perfect our skills that make us happy and content? Of course not! It's when that action makes us unhappy within filled with disempowerment that would be of concern. In that sense, whose standards of perfection are we fulfilling? Are we just too harsh on ourselves?

Most of us find it a challenge to 'let go of the perfect mindset' that was imprinted into us when we were less aware that we do have choices in life when we allow the possibilities to flow into our path. Some clean their imprints on their slates through time and learning. Some others find it a big challenge to clean their slates clean of those 'impurities' and constantly hit a wall and paralysis mode in life.

Letting go of 'being perfect/ too perfect' is work for a lot of people. It is easier said than done obviously but never impossible. We are all born 'perfect as we are' - the matter is do we see it within ourselves and see the 'perfect us' within our 'imperfect self' and allow greatness to come our from it all?

When we learn to let go of our own 'standards of perfectionism and imperfectionism' that need to conform to the standards of others imposed on you - life begins to 'relax and expand beyond your expectations'. Do you dare to let that go to give yourself back the power of balance in mind, body and spirit?

When we are able to let go of the 'perfectness of everything' that stresses us to paralysis; we thrive with great creativity and productivity. We encourage better relationships within ourselves and with others. We expand our greatness within. We empower our creativity to our potential. We create balance within in mind, body and spirit.

WHICH PART OF PERFECTIONISM THAT YOU NEED TO LET GO TO STOP YOUR 'PARALYSIS' OF CREATIVITY, POTENTIAL AND ABUNDANCE?

HOW MUCH AND HOW LONG DO YOU WANT TO SUFFOCATE YOURSELF FROM ALL THE GREATNESS WITHIN YOU THAT IS ALL THAT IS AND PERFECT AS IT IS?
