Expectations in life could be viewed as positive as well as negative. It is positive when it motivates us to better ourselves based on realistic expectations that we put on ourselves and others. It becomes negative when we have unrealistic expectations and choose to ignore all the red flags that a change is crucial.
How do we judge? Being aware of your own capabilities and of others are important factors to help us understand better if our expectations are realistic or not and whether they are achievable or not. We mustn't confuse with instances where we have the ability to do something but not doing it because of fear.
Having high expectations is not wrong; it motivates us to become better and the best we can be however we also need to be real and stay real at all times and make sure that we're not holding on to unrealistic expectations that harm us more than doing any good for us and of others.
Expectations open doors to personal growth however unrealistic expectations open doors to despair, conflict or disappointments if we can't be truthful about them and make the necessary changes in our lives to create more realistic expectations of ourselves and others.
